Love of Money

Ecclesiastes 5:8-20
Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth . . . But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matt 6:19a-20). Things will wear out, bank accounts may empty out, but celebrating the presence of God in your life will endure. A person may experience some anxiety when there is not enough money, but God’s love and resources will never run out. Earthly treasures cannot compare to the vast amount of resources God has for those who love Him.
Families play games when they get together. Many enjoy the board game Monopoly. Children and adults can be competitive and ruthless sometimes! However, when Monopoly concludes, the winner is awarded all the property and cash. Monopoly real estate is not real and the game’s currency has no value. True and lasting riches cannot be found by monetary gain any more than Monopoly can provide real and lasting wealth. The way to discover true riches is by trusting one’s life to God.
