Proverbs 14:20-35
Some folks like to post a reminder to themselves and others about integrity: what you do when no one is looking reveals your character. When you are all alone, what do you say, watch, do? Likely, that is a clearer picture of who you truly are then when you are surrounded by other people.
What if the other people you are surrounded by are folks you don’t see? If you’ve been to a restaurant recently, can you recall the name of your waiter? Did you take note of the cashier during your last trip to the grocery store? What about the people in your community who don’t look like, think like, or sound like you?
Proverbs 14 clearly tells us: God is honored by his people who are kind and loving to the needy. Whether they are oppressed, sick, poor, uneducated, from a foreign land, God calls us to love them, also. It can be very easy to overlook these people. You may not even realize they are all around you. God, however, knows and is calling us to share his grace and good news.
