The Promise of Presence
September 4th, 2018
Exodus 3:12-21
When God called Mary’s husband to attend seminary, he struggled with doubts. It meant moving away from family and friends, finding jobs, and even finding the money for the move across the country. Fear of all those unknown elements seemed to overwhelm them. Amid those uncertainties, a promise from God arrived in a letter from a friend who knew nothing of our present circumstances. It read: “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (fear), but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline” (2 Tim 1:7). That promise saw them through the challenges of obeying God—and God provided everything they needed. He took care of finances, moving, living arrangements, and jobs in miraculous ways.
God promised Moses that He would be with him, and that he would bring God’s children out of Egypt. God promised to clear away the obstacles that they would face. Are you struggling to obey God in something He’s asking of you? He promises His presence and peace. Trust Him today and step forward in faith.
