We Are Important to God!
April 15th, 2018
Psalm 8:1-9
It is hard to fathom just how enormous God’s creation is. Imagine that our entire galaxy, the Milky Way, was the size of a plate. Now think of all the stars you can see when you step outside and look up at the sky. Thousands upon thousands of twinkling lights scattered across the black canvas of night. Now imagine a button from your shirt placed on the plate. All of the stars that we can see with our own eyes fit within the area of that single button. We see but a fraction of all the stars that reside even in our own galaxy. Now think of the millions of galaxies that exist beyond our own that we can only see with the aid of a telescope. There truly are no words to describe the vastness and complexity of God’s creation!
As we consider the heavens, we realize that humanity and the created order we call Earth, are but a speck of dust in the universe. Yet, the psalmist reminds us that God, the Creator of it all, has crowned us with glory and honor.
