God’s Ambassadors
January 17th, 2018
Isaiah 27:1-13
In order to properly represent a president or ruler, an ambassador must have a clear picture of the goals and objectives of the one they represent.
The apostle Paul tells us that we are Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). Consequently, we must understand the priorities of the kingdom. If we aren’t intimately familiar with what God is trying to accomplish, we will never be able to fulfill our calling as God’s representative. Paul clarifies God’s priorities by writing, “We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
God’s primary objective is reconciliation with the world. Isaiah tells us that instead of waging war against the enemies, God desires that they would make peace and find their refuge in Him. As the people of God, our posture should not be combative or exclusive, but one of peace and openness.
The gospel is good news for all people, and it is our sacred calling to proclaim it!
