Worship In Complete Trust

Job 1:12-22
I think all of us would be better if we read the Book of Job occasionally. It helps put things in perspective. Satan underestimated Job’s trust in God. He thought Job only loved God because God had blessed him abundantly. Satan began by taking Job’s “stuff”. When that didn’t work, he attacked Job’s family. I’ve heard people say there is no way to measure the loss of a child. Job lost all ten of his. Can you imagine his grief? Only God could provide the grace and comfort Job must have felt to proclaim, “The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised” (Job 1:21). Is it possible to be that close to God?
My “go to” verse in times of struggle is Psalm 56:3-4: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise–in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” You could replace “afraid” in those verses with any challenge or threat. Job chose to trust God in spite of his circumstances. What do you need to trust God with?
