Get Wisdom At Any Cost!

Proverbs 4:1-12
We often hear people make the comment, “I would give my right arm for ________.” We may fill in the blank with any number of things. Some would fill in the blank with precious gems or a work of art. Yet others might suggest an expensive car. However we might complete the sentence, the implication is that the desired object is extremely costly, the price being much more than we could ever hope to have. Some people have given up great sums to have that object they desire most.
Proverbs chapter four teaches us that there is something more desirable and more valuable than any material object that we could imagine. More precious and profitable than anything else in the entire world is wisdom.
King Solomon instructs us that wisdom will be a source of honor, of exaltation, of righteousness, of life itself. Wisdom is to be sought after no matter what it costs us. Later on, in Proverbs 9:10, he reminds us that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Seeking the Lord with our whole heart is the wisest thing we can do.
