True Worship

2 Samuel 6:12-23
One Sunday morning, I watched as our children were worshiping in the sanctuary with us. There were a few children standing close to the front rows. Their parents were keeping a close eye on them.
As the music began, the drums and guitars played out and the kids started jumping up and down. It made me smile. Quickly, one of the fathers grabbed his son and sternly told him to calm down. I turned away and wiped the smile from my face, not wanting to undermine his authority. Look, I get it, respect is due, but I thought, “Lord help us to remember why we’re here.”
The boy couldn’t contain himself. Now, it might have been the doughnuts we give out on Sunday mornings, but I believe it was something bigger. God was reminding us to worship without reservation. Worship in truth. My little buddy was doing just that. He was excited! He couldn’t help it!
I think we’ve traded our passions in for our preferences. Let’s worship God without hesitancy. He is worthy of our praise!
