Strong In Hope
August 21st, 2016
Revelation 21:1-11
“[God] will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). Death will be gone. Grief, crying and pain will vanish from our experience and vocabulary. For the struggling, hurting believer, no other words bring more comfort, peace, and hope. Imagine God stroking your cheek and wiping the tears away forever!
Life is full of challenges. At times, it seems our trials and disappointments almost consume us; draining our strength and spiritual vitality. God’s message is strong. Our hope is sure. There is coming a day when we will live in the presence of God and be claimed as His very own for eternity!
Our instructions for godly living are to stay strong, keeping our focus on Christ, staying in His Word, being patient and long-suffering. This seems so difficult when, like the Philadelphia church, our strength is almost gone. Yet, it is in these times we need to embrace our hope, allowing the Holy Spirit to strengthen us. We can stay strong because we know Jesus is coming again!
