Godless Chatter

2 Timothy 2:14-26
Godless chatter is “unhallowed or profane words” that lead to “empty or foolish talk.” It usually happens when we say too much. That is why the Apostle Paul was teaching some young followers of Christ when he wrote: “Do not let any unwholesome talk [godless chatter] come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Ephesians 4:29, emphasis added). The Apostle James also wrote, “The tongue is like a spark that can lead to a wildfire. One word can lead to another until the whole conversation becomes godless chatter” (James 3:6, author’s paraphrase, emphasis added),
Godless chatter means we will become less and less like Jesus. We need to confess our failings to God and ask Him to be Lord of our conversations. Then, with God’s help we can avoid godless chatter and grow in our understanding of what it means to bring words of life to those who listen. Let’s join King David in his prayer concerning our conversations today. “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD” (Psalm 19:14).

Thank you. I appreciate your understanding about this topic. God put this on my heart between 5 to 6 days ago and then the word endless chatter popped in my head today and i forgot to write it down 5 days ago. Im struggling with Christians and the church and im not in church because I’ve been hurt to many times by Christians and no one in my old church in the past 5 years never reached out to me by asking how are u doing, haven’t seen u church. And im upset. I would never say anything bad about God and his word or his church but im not ready to go back to church or be around Christians. And to be honest i backslid from the Lord Jesus Christ but I’ll say this the past month god has been speaking to me in different circumstances and in different ways to reach my heart. It’s hard to explain it but keep me in prayer im still struggling because of these thing’s i shared and im on a path that im walking alone on.
