The Way To Joy
December 23rd, 2015
Isaiah 35:1-10
Joy is often confused with happiness. Although happiness is not a bad thing, happiness is linked to our happenings. Therefore, if our happenings are pleasing, we are happy. If they are disappointing, we are not.
Joy is different, for it does not dependent on our present circumstances. Jesus tells His disciples in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” With this statement, Jesus reminded His disciples that life will not always be a bed of roses. As Christians, God has enabled us, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, to live above our circumstances.
Isaiah foretold a future that brought hope. God’s people of that day were to focus on that hope, knowing that the present does not always accurately portray the future.
My prayer for you today is to walk through your present “happening” with an unwavering focus on His future glory for your life.
