Isaiah 56:1-8
We can’t read Scripture without concluding that Jesus came not just for a “chosen race” but for the entire world. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Salvation was extended to the rest of the world. The many biblical accounts of individuals finding a place in His kingdom prove His universal love. Sinners of every nation who believed in Him were accepted: Rahab, Naaman, the Samaritan woman, and the thief on the cross were included in His lineup of favorites. We are all His favorites!
It is said that someone once asked John Wesley’s mother, “Which one of your children do you love the most?” Her answer was as wise as the question was foolish: “I love the one who’s sick until he’s well, and the one who’s away until he comes home.” That is God’s attitude toward our suffering planet–we are so well known to Him that, as Scripture assures, He counts the hairs on our head.
