For The Honor Of His Name
December 10th, 2015
Isaiah 52:1-12
Do you ever feel like you live in a foreign land where the only time you hear the name of God or Jesus is in a curse? His precious name is spoken in anger or made the butt of jokes. His holiness is trampled under the feet of the greedy and godless, much as in the day the people of Judah were taken captive into Babylon. God lamented through His prophet, “And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed” (Isaiah 52:5).
We live among people who do not honor the Lord of heaven and earth. God hears His name blasphemed constantly on our streets and villages. We who love Him cringe when we hear it. Right now in so many corners of our world it is dangerous to honor the name of Christ. Many acquiesce to ruling authorities and power-hungry leaders, but some stand for Christ and are tortured and killed.
What about us? Do we stand up for the honor of His name? One day every knee will bow before Him and know who He is. We His people who know Him now are called to honor His name in a hostile world.
