Psalm 140:1-13
“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD (Isaiah 54:17).
As a shepherd, David had lived a lonely life. God used him to defeat Goliath, bringing him into the public eye. Although, he was the people’s hero, King Saul resented his popularity and the Philistines became his nemesis.
Obeying God in our jobs and businesses and standing up for righteousness may lead to persecution. David asked God to preserve him from violent and crafty enemies. He also asked God to champion the cause of the afflicted, those without a voice.
God preserves the righteous and protects them as they stand for justice. Like David, we pray against the schemes of the wicked. Those who do not turn from evil will face the vengeance of God.
We give thanks to God when He confounds and destroys our enemies’ plans.
