All Creation Sings

Psalm 89:1-18
One of my favorite times of year is our mid-summer family camping trip. At higher elevations, away from city lights, stars of the night sky seem to multiply exponentially and radiate songs of praise. Breezes glide through evergreen boughs and aspen leaves like bows across stringed instruments whispering joyful songs. Occasionally, a storm thunders forth the mighty glory of God. In all its magnificence, nature continually points us beyond its grandeur to the Creator.
In Psalm 89:1-18, the character of the Creator is highlighted as a significant reason for praise. Both psalmist and nature glorify God not only for covenant and creation but particularly for God’s love and faithfulness. In verses 1, 2, and 14, the word translated in the NIV as “love” is also translated as “lovingkindness” (NASB) and “steadfast love” (NRSV). No wonder those who have learned to praise the Lord find their glory and strength in Him.

Amen and amen! And the longer we sing His praise, the sweeter grows the blessing of His presence.
