God’s Promise of Health
September 21st, 2015
Exodus 15:22-27
We are encouraged to pray for the sick. And as we pray, there is a definite expectation that the people we are praying for will be healed. Thus, praying for health is an act of faith.
In Exodus 15, God promised to protect the Israelites from the sicknesses that had afflicted the Egyptians. It is important to note that this promise was for the whole nation: God the Father was taking care of His people. Indeed, we are told that when God’s children left Egypt, none of them faltered (Psalm 105:37). It appears they remained healthy throughout the entire journey.
In Psalm 103:2-3, David wrote a personal testimony of healing: “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” David referred to these “benefits” in context of praise as he affirmed the goodness of God’s Word. When we affirm and rejoice in God’s Word, our repentance and obedience open the door to God’s healing power.
