Finding God’s Satisfaction
May 12th, 2015
Isaiah 55:1-13
What tastes better than sun tea on a hot day or a glass of ice cold milk before bedtime? In Isaiah 55, Isaiah urges people to come and buy refreshment without money.
Before quenching one’s thirst or hunger, however, a person must realize his need for it. In the Great Depression the bread lines snaked down sidewalks and around corners. People knew they needed food, and they were not ashamed to receive it when it was available.
God offers us the free gift of sustenance from his great riches, but we must have the desire in our hearts for it. Milk is believed to be the most complete food, containing nutrients needed for growth. While milk helps our bodies grow, the milk of the Word helps us grow in our faith. Then, when we are ready, God feeds us on meat, the deeper truths that bring satisfaction to our souls.
In Isaiah 55 we learn how to be happy and to have everything we need. God is a great provider. Be blessed in knowing God loves you.
