Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

1 Corinthians 10:1-13
Some call it “Titanic Syndrome”—that boastful attitude of being “unsinkable.” Magnetic personality, leadership skills, beauty, success, connections and special talents have the potential of becoming liabilities.
Leaders of mega churches praised for phenomenal statistics are not immune. The platform of success raises the level of claims of ownership and transfer rights. Soon, signs of isolation and inadequate accountability appear; there are also mentions of visions, special revelations, and promises of miracles and material prosperity. These emphases tend to value things and neglect principles, to accumulate personal assets while forgetting the poor.
Unchecked prosperity can endanger faith, the very source that prompts daily dependence on God’s grace, mercy and compassion. Strength is never based on what “you think that you are.” The goal is not the image in our mirror but the steadiness of God’s image in us.
