What Is Compassion?

Matthew 25:31-46
Accumulating points earned by our good works does not save us. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ. In Matthew 25, however, our Lord reminds us that our life in Christ must, of necessity, produce good works. The absence of these acts of compassion tragically testifies to a hollow, hypocritical profession of faith. We claim to love Christ, but each time we refuse to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, or welcome the immigrant, we confirm that we are not true disciples of Jesus. We need to humbly examine the fruit of our lives to determine if we are sheep of the fold or selfish goats that will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.
What is compassion? “Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:16b-18).

The thirsty, the hungry, the poor, the sick, or the imprisoned are typically the unlovable and/or innocent (“who can’t help us in return”). To the world, they are not worthy of our love – – just as “we” are not worthy of God’s love! Therefore, we are to teach The Word as we are physically taking care of these – just as God provides for us as we are seeking His Kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33) .

The word Compassion is a character or a life style by itself. In this life there’s no wrong or evil in it, it is but Love, Kindness, Mercy, Long-suffering, Patience, Goodness etc.
Compassion is a passive emotion revealed in 1cor. 13:1-8 above Love, then i say compassion is Love in its perfection as written in John 3:16.
Compassion is the fruit of Love or a good will that comes from Love (Matth. 9:36 / Luke 7:13). Love is a seed and compassion is one of its fruits. This Fruit (Compassion) have the ability (that’s Power) to move Men & Women to do good.
Therefore compassion is the very life of God at work in the Lives of Believers or non believers. It is the favor or the Grace of God towards man.
