Restoring Grace
October 16th, 2014
Romans 3:21-31
If you have ever been caught red handed–hands in the cookie jar with chocolate chips smeared on your face–then you understand what it means to be without defense and rightfully accused. That is what we call the human condition. We are sinners by nature, and we know it.
However, through the grace provided through the work of Jesus Christ, God forgives our sin, removes our shame, and restores us to our originally intended state.
Grace means receiving that which is undeserved. What Jesus Christ did for us is so thoroughly undeserved that any attempt to earn His love and grace results in an embarrassing spectacle. We must simply acknowledge what Romans 3, verses 23 and 24 so clearly state–that we are miserably in need, and that Jesus Christ wonderfully supplies what is lacking and fixes what is broken.
The grace that justifies us also restores us to what God intended us to be–free from sin and living as His children.

Free . . . what a wonderful feeling! The ONLY way to freedom is through God’s grace and forgiveness of our sins. We must then show grace to others when they need our forgiveness – even when they don’t ask for it.
