Hebrews 10:19-39
When the sun shines, our bodies work without pain, and everyone calls us “friend,” it is easy to trust God. But what if we suffer greatly, our government falls apart, and we’re subjected to tyranny? What if we lose everything? Then suppose we lose it only because we follow Jesus faithfully.
Hebrews tells us about early Christians who suffered terribly and were tempted to give up. They may also have been tempted to fight and “pay back” their persecutors.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that God’s way is best. The goal of life in Jesus is not to avoid pain, but to embrace the life He offers. Through His sacrifice, Jesus opens for us a new way that will bring us life in all its fullness. Then he helps us walk with Him toward that life. He helps us by being our great high priest, welcoming us in prayer, supporting us with hope, and giving us fellow believers so that we may encourage and strengthen one another for continuing faith in God.

I love your phrasing of “He helps us by…supporting us with hope” as I don’t usually think of hope as support. As I read this, though, I see that that is what hope does — it supports our faith and gives us strength to continue praying until we see the results of our prayers. Thanks.
