Loss Results In Suffering

Job 1:1-12
Satan confronted God concerning the holy man Job. God’s blessings to Job resulted in 10 beloved children, thousands of valuable animals, and “a very large household” (v. 3, NKJV). Satan sneered, “touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You!” (v. 11, NKJV).
God granted permission, and the Satan-caused losses started mounting. The ultimate blow came when his 10 sons and daughters died in a house collapse caused by a windstorm.. Loss results in suffering! Loss of work, housing, possessions, health, savings, or family will bring grief. James knows a little about this level of suffering—he and his wife buried their 45-year-old son several summers ago because of melanoma.
You can’t get an experience of grace that will exempt you from suffering when losses come. Nevertheless, there is good news! Jesus promised He would send the divine Comforter (John 14:16, KJV) if we will just ask. The Comforter is real! He brings healing and restoration.
