The Wise & Their Influence

Proverbs 11:14-31
Donna’s husband grew up in southern California. Scattered in their back yard were various fruit trees. The year round warmth of the sun and the necessary irrigation allowed these trees to flourish. At times the boughs of the fruit laden trees were so heavy they required propping up with stout wooden beams. Dark plums, apples, yellow lemons, oranges and grapefruit settled onto the family table in abundance.
Each of these plentiful fruit held within its center the seeds of a new generation. These seeds were dormant until the maturing process was complete. The fruit of each tree held new life, which, in time would nourish future families.
Just so, the life of the upright, honest, and moral person bears the seed of abundant life for new generations. Within such a person’s fruitful life is the seed that will produce new fruit–new life for people who see in them an example of righteousness.
Remember when evil is tempting, we are providing life for a new generation.
