Revelation 3:7-13
As a teenager I went on a mission trip to Romania with my family. I had been a Christian for as long as I could remember but I had yet to give everything over to God. On that trip I told God I would go wherever He wanted me to go and do whatever He wanted me to do. Two weeks after we returned home our house burned down. We were left with nothing–the clothes on our back, a few charred possessions, and that was all! Or was it? We still had each other. We still had God’s promised presence; we had the knowledge of past blessings and the hope of future joy in Christ. The fire could have led to anger, distrust, or shattered faith. But my family found our strength in God. We held onto our faith and we were able to see God work in the midst of this loss and pain.
We must hold on to the salvation we have received, no matter the circumstances. His salvation is paramount. In holding on to what we have in Christ while hoping for His return every circumstance of our lives will be altered by God’s grace.
