Patient Grace
November 23rd, 2013
2 Peter 3:1-10
Longing for Jesus to return so sin will go away can be a pitfall in the Christian life. Of course, this will happen. However, sitting still and praying for the return of Christ is not what the Christian life is about. We are invited to participate in the great work of God to bring salvation to the world. God doesn’t want anyone to perish.
We have a great responsibility. We get to work with God every day, to see people’s lives changed. This requires caution. Judging others is not the call for us. Sharing love is the invitation we have received. We also need to show the world, not the judgment of God, but the great love of God. This can seem an insurmountable task. We believe God is at work in all places, at all times, and in all people–it’s called Prevenient Grace, the grace that goes before our salvation. Maybe someone next door to you is just waiting to understand that tugging that God has placed in their hearts. Their repentance can be one step closer to God’s desire–that no one should perish!
