Carnality Masquerading As Spirituality

1 Peter 3:8-22
Does anyone want to find the abundant flow of God’s holy favor in this life and in the life to come? If so, speaking evil of others is not the entrance. Do we want to know the delightful desires of God’s heart for forever and today? If so, allowing devil-like deception to flow from our lips must not be allowed.
My mentor, Rev. James Spruill, taught me this great truth. “The worst kind of deception is in the realm of the spiritual. Indeed, the most subtle deception is human carnality masquerading as holy spirituality. It’s devastating when the devil enters the church through God’s people.”
God’s people are to be holy people, honest people, and honorable people. The church is not the place where slander, gossip, or character assassination should be perpetuated or even tolerated.
“If anyone boasts, ‘I love God,’ and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see?
