Agendas
October 6th, 2013
1 Thessalonians 6:11-16
As you prepare for church today consider your role and place in the body of Christ. What is on the agenda today? I’m sure that in every local church there are things we would like to see different. We may have personal preferences about how we would like to see “church done.” Let’s be honest for a moment. Perhaps you’d like to replace the pastor. Perhaps you’d like to see worship conducted in a different way. Perhaps you’d like to see your local church be more aggressive in reaching lost people for Jesus. Perhaps you think your church should focus more on discipling the people you already have. Maybe you’d like to see more emphasis on corporate prayer or see the kids in the youth group show a better regard for God’s house.
Again, is this day really about your agenda or mine? Certain annoyances can be hard to overcome. It’s easy to want to push your personal agenda with church leaders. Look again at Paul’s agenda. What are we supposed to pursue? That’s right, 1 Timothy 6:11-14 define today’s agenda. Friend, let’s make it our agenda to pursue the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
