Prove It To Me!
September 30th, 2013
Ezekiel 36:22-32
I was in my first assignment as a newly minted youth pastor, full of zeal and energy. I thought I “knew it all.” One day my senior pastor invited me to accompany him on a trip to the local fast-food drive-thru. As I took the first slurp on my drink, he asked me, “Are you sanctified?”
I replied with inward arrogance, “Yes.” He replied, “Prove it to me scripturally.” Well, right there he had me. I went blank. Needless to say after some stammering he firmly told me to never get in his car again unless I could point to the scriptures of the sanctified life and prove that I could teach them confidently to our youth.
Friend, this passage is it! God sprinkles clean water, He removes the heart of stone, He sanctifies His name, and He restores the broken relationship severed by sin. He delivers from uncleanness (v. 29). This is not just a noteworthy passage in a string of passages on holy living; this really is so much more! Are you sanctified? Do you know this by Scripture? More importantly, do you know it by heart?
