Our Storied Past
September 17th, 2013
Acts 26:4-23
I rushed into the house fearing the worst. I had heard screaming coming from the living room. To my chagrin it was only my four-year-old bouncing on her grandpa’s lap. She was demanding another story. Family stories have become a very important part of our legacy.
It was so with Paul as he stood before King Agrippa and told his story. He started out in a familiar vein, common to most of his listeners, but then ended on a note of triumph. He delivered his personal story of salvation, telling how it was interwoven with that of Jesus. Paul ended with Christ’s death and resurrection from the grave. His audience received his words with mixed emotions, some even rejected his message. So it will be when we tell our story, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to give us courage and gumption to do so! Jesus charged us to be His witnesses; who knows who will hear the story of Jesus and have the story of their lives changed.
