Isaiah 54:1-8
Some may wonder why God can be angry. God is holy and He desires His people to walk with Him in holiness of life and character. Indeed character means what a person is. It speaks of one’s practice of life and the example that is revealed. Dwight Moody said, “Character is what a man is in the dark”.
The life of holiness is both the gift and ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The world looks at the Christian for an example and can readily see if there are any flaws. Every day we are challenged to show a true example of a life in Christ. There is a distinctive walk of holiness that the Spirit’s presence and power alone makes possible.
Thankfully Isaiah 54:8 speaks of the Lord’s compassion toward all who seek His face. Many people have gone deep into sin and been restored to His grace. Jesus loves the sinner but turns His back on their sin. Compassion is such a strengthening word.
I recall reading, “God comes when all is dark.”
