God’s Love and Salvation
August 2nd, 2013
Psalm 85:1-13
The psalmist asks that God, “Restore us again” (v. 4). Whether it is because of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God or God testing His people, we are not sure. Regardless of the cause, the psalmist feels like God is angry and asks that God will again “show” His unfailing love and “grant” them His salvation.
God has “shown” us His unfailing love and “granted” us salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. We know that we never walk alone. Still, why do we so often feel like the psalmist–that God has left us out of anger? Allow your prayer today to be that, by the grace of God, we open our eyes and ears to the reminders all around us of His unfailing love and unending faithfulness. If we simply take time to pause, remember, and reflect, we will see and be reminded that God has not left us.
Maybe we need to make space once again for “testimony time.” We need to again remind one another once of God’s faithfulness in our lives, and hear the great story of God in the lives of others.
