The Bread Of Life
June 18th, 2013
Colossians 3:12-17
Mom is famous for her “melt in your mouth” cinnamon rolls. The brothers fuss over who gets the first one, who gets the one with the most icing, and who mom loves best. It is because of mom’s love for the Lord and His Word that every corner of her kitchen is filled with joy and the sweet aroma of God’s indwelling presence.
Mrs. Charbonnier was also famous for her rich buttery bread and undaunting faith in God. But she lived during the persecution of French Huguenots where Bibles were burned and Christians martyred. In order to protect her priceless treasure and share God’s wonderful Word with her family and friends, it is believed that Mrs. Charbonnier molded bread dough around her Bible and baked it. Even though it was still a risk, the Bible, hidden in a loaf of bread, could be shared from one household to another.*
Down through the ages God has protected His message so that we might believe and share His love with the next generation. “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly” (Colossians 3:16a).

In Colossians 3:12, we are told to clothe ourselves; whereas, in Revelation 16:15 we’re told that our nakedness will be exposed when Jesus returns.
In the parables of the unleavened bread (Matthew 13:33 & Luke 13:20-21), the yeast is symbolic of “sin” (since Jesus is the unleavened bread) that makes the leaven bread “rise.” When Jesus became sin for us, He became the yeast that the woman (Church) kneads into the world (dough). The woman will make warm (encourage) the bread (Jesus) to rise in the world by baking in the heat of the oven (Hosea 7:6) for feeding to the nations.
The King James Version of Luke 13:20-21 states that the woman “hid” the leaven (yeast) in three measures. This appears to be taken out of some versions of the Holy Bible.
Jesus becoming sin for us is hidden in the 3 measures (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) from the world until the bread is eaten (digested).
