Creation’s Concert of Praise

Psalm 148:1-14
Poetry can create a world that has never been. Those who live only in the literal world of prose object that such a world does not exist. To such objections the poet replies, “Ah, but what if it did?”
Poetry like that of Psalm 148 opens our eyes to a world that has not existed since before the ancient fall, when creation joined in harmonious praise to its Creator. The haunting images of this strange new world paint an idyllic landscape totally alien to the world as we have known it.
The images in this fantastic dream-world dimly reflect the greater reality they represent: The new order God has in mind for His renewed creation (see Romans 8:22-25).
So, for a few moments, we leave the prosaic world behind, and enter the world as God would have it, the world as it will be–the world at praise. When we return to the “real world,” we may get nostalgic for a place we’ve never been. Or, we may realize that we may even now praise the Creator with that part of creation we are.

“The haunting images of this strange new world paint an idyllic landscape totally alien to the world as we have known it.”
It most definitely is NOT the perfect world; however, it is perfect for bringing us to the knowledge that we cannot overcome the baggage that our ancestors and present day life has left for us and our children. It is a world in which our Savior is the only One that can bring us into to a right relationship, most importantly with God, but also a much needed peace within.
