Something To Give
May 2nd, 2013
Acts 3:1-10
Peter and John were going to the temple to pray. That was their normal custom. A lame man was at the temple gate begging. He couldn’t get there alone. Others carried him, but he was there every day. He hoped those who passed by would give him a few coins to help him survive. It was an ordinary day for Peter and John and the beggar. None of them knew that God had planned a life-changing encounter.
The beggar asked for money. Some tossed a coin his way. Peter and John looked at him. They had no money, but something much better, the power of Jesus. Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk,” and stretched out his hand. God brought strength and healing. The lame man asked for money and received a miracle instead.
A friend prayed one morning, “Dear Lord, lead us to someone who needs you today, and someone who needs us.” People all around us are lost and lonely, sick and sad. They need the Lord, and they need us to show them his love.
