Called To Renewed Holiness
April 21st, 2013
Romans 5:12-21
Adam sinned and we all have sinned. Oh, don’t blame Adam or Eve. If they had not, you or I would have. I would not want the blame for that, so I am glad they did it first.
However, it is what Jesus did that makes all the difference. For by his death and resurrection we are restored because his grace overflows to us all. Through Christ God completed his plan for mankind to be restored to the state of holiness, righteousness, and purity that Adam first knew in the garden. Where Adam failed, Jesus succeeded. He chose to obey the Father and used his mind to reason truth. He had come to do the will of the Father, making his joy and ours complete (John 17:13).
In the image of Adam we were born sinners. By the blood of Jesus, we are reborn the children of God (John 1:12); new creations in Christ, the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:17, 21). Sinners go to eternal punishment (Ps. 1:5). Children of God have eternal life (John 3:16). The living Christ within empowers us to live in holiness and righteousness in joyful intimacy with God.
