2 Corinthians 6:3—7:1
Joyce confesses that she is “addicted” to those disinfectant squirt bottles that are everywhere. Her husband Gene teases her that it’s impossible for her to pass by without splashing a crystal stream of purification into her hands. And he’s right!
The same is true of our minds and spirits. In today’s depraved society it is imperative that we constantly be on guard to protect ourselves from the onslaught of evil that is all around us. Pornography is a huge and readily available temptation. Many families and lives have been destroyed by the slippery slope that started with an “innocent” peak inside a forbidden magazine.
Gene and I have encountered wonderful people who have succumbed to the pressures of jobs or even pastorates that left them lonely and vulnerable to temptation. It has been our sad assignment to serve interim pastorates for churches where the pastor had fallen.
Our heart’s cry must be to carefully guard our eyes, thoughts, and hearts from Satan’s evil strategies to infect us. We do this by allowing Christ to be our soul sanitizer!
