He Has Done Great Things

Psalm 98:1-9
Psalm 98 is a song of praise not limited to Israel or to humankind. The psalmist invites all of creation to sing, clap, and shout of the Lord’s great goodness. I can imagine the emotion and gratitude growing in the psalmist’s heart as he pens these words, like the crescendo of an orchestra.
The Lord truly did marvelous things for the people of Israel. We remember stories like the parting of the Red Sea, Gideon and his amazing victories, Elijah’s prayer that brought fire from heaven, David’s defeat of Goliath, and so many more. And, of course, the Lord’s marvelous works extended past the Old Testament days and into the New with the miracles of Christ, his death and resurrection, and the spreading of the gospel.
Sometimes, however, it is difficult to see the marvelous things the Lord has done for us. While I haven’t heard of any seas parting recently, I know that God is still at work in revealing his salvation.
Take a few minutes today to remember the history of God’s marvelous deeds in your own life, and see if it doesn’t have you leading all creation in a praise song!

“Take a few minutes today to remember the history of God’s marvelous deed in your own life. . .”
First, hind-sight sees that Jesus has always been there (knocking at my door). I couldn’t see, hear, or even know of HIS love until I had accepted Jesus as God’s son and my savior. While I am still blind to understanding many things, I have a relationship with Him and the faith that all things work together for the good of all those that love HIM.
Jesus came into my life 19 years ago after a devastating divorce of a 13-year-marriage (with an additional 5 years of dating–without sex). I was all alone and hurting. As a matter of fact, home computers with that on-line experience were in their infant stage. Thus, I adopted the screen name “birdonroof” from Psalms 102:7. While I no longer possess that screen name, both the world and my life have had so many changes. However, faith in Jesus has never failed me. Even when I originally thought He had, I discovered that I learned some invaluable lessons.
Journaling from the heart (asking for forgiveness of any misspelling, mispronouncing, misunderstanding, misusing, or misrepresenting HIS WORD) brings additional joy into my life. I see the great changes that He has made in my thoughts, as well as, my life.

What a beautiful testimony, Barbara. The Lord has also done marvelous things in my life as well. 🙂 He deserves all the praise and worship. Even though we may have problems in life, as long as we focus on Him, our problems will become smaller and smaller and He will become greater and greater.
