The Continuing Miracle
December 1st, 2012
Acts 1:1-11
The miracle of Christmas never ends. In the miracle of Christ’s incarnation the eternal One took upon himself mortal flesh. He identified himself fully with us, offered himself for us, and now intercedes with the heavenly Father on our behalf. “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Heb. 7:25). He has been, and always will be, our blessed Savior.
This miracle continues also in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. This “Promise of the Father” lives within the believing heart; cleansing, teaching, and empowering us to glorify God through lives of holy witness.
This continuing miracle is also seen wherever humble “Bethlehem” hearts are opened to the Savior. Wherever room is made for him Christ is born there. Today is always Christmas in lives that turn away from sin. Christ is being formed in them (Gal. 4:19). The miracle of Christ’s birth continues in the lives of all the redeemed children of God.

The scripture passages of Acts 1:1-11 is in reference to Jesus being taken up to heaven and in His returning in the same way.
Notice in Act 1:9, they saw Jesus taken up, but a cloud hid Him from their sight after that. We can’t see Jesus now because He is hidden from our sight) until He returns; but we can know He lives.
The continuing miracle of Jesus taking residence in our heart is that He begins to change and cleanse us through the Holy Spirit. Atfer we figure out that we can’t change other people (much less ourselves), this miracle is a reality.
When we accept Jesus as God’s Son in our heart, we are accepting the One with whom God is well-pleased (Matthew 3:17) and the Holy Spirit is accomphishing just that with us (Phillipians 1:6).
