The Tongue Tamer

James 3:7-12
Is it true that no human being can tame the tongue? If it is, then why should we bother trying? It sounds like we can just shoot from the hip, say whatever we think, lash out whenever we want, and blame it on our “uncontrollable” tongue.
The truth is, what we cannot do on our own, the Spirit of God will enable us to do. Even though we may not achieve perfect control of our tongue on our own, the Holy Spirit will help us learn self-control. If we ask for help, the Lord has promised to give it. He stands ready to help us master our mouth. Pray for the Spirit of God to give you wisdom and the ability to do what you could never do on your own.
Sometimes the words we speak are right and pleasing to God and sometimes our words can be harsh and destructive. The Bible tells us that from the overflow of the heart our mouths speak. The good news is that God wants to change us from the inside out. When the Holy Spirit purifies a heart, he helps us speak words that are pleasing to God.

Yes, we live in a lion’s den (the covering of our flesh).
The enemy prowls around wanting to eat us (1 Peter 5:8) .
If our hearts speak, taming that wild beast of the tongue means that our heart must be full of the Holy Spirit, or, it will come back and bite us by being hypocital. Refer to Jeremiah 9:8
Written words put us on record as to how our heart really thinks. Sooner or later, the truth comes out and we have to account for what we’ve said.
Mistakes humble or harden us. .
