Seek God’s Blessing
November 26th, 2011
Isaiah 64:1-9
Without the assurance of God’s presence, life is troubled, insecure, and empty. Without his blessing, no other good thing satisfies. If our relationship with him is strained and distant, we have drifted away from him. We all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away (Isa. 64:6b).
In what ways should you draw nearer to God? Don’t indulge in meaningless, painful guilt. Believe in God’s goodness and patience with you, and ask him what he wants you to change. Be assured that whatever he wants is for your good, and he will help you obey. What does his loving heart want for you? What simple step of faith is he asking you to take today?
For every one of us life could be richer, more peaceful, more satisfying, and more fruitful if we simply trusted our Father more constantly and completely. Nothing is more precious than God’s blessing, and nothing is easier to attain if we will “trust and obey.” O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand . . . we are all your people (Isa. 64:8-9).
