Because I Bear His Name

As Jerry and Toni travel around the world, they see many different types of suffering.
Toni remembers a strong pastor who lived in a village in Africa. One parishioner became very sick and needed medical attention. The pastor put him on his own back and carried him several miles to the clinic in the next town!
Toni recalls a pastor’s wife who suffered greatly. While home alone taking care of her small children, men broke in and assaulted her. She told them that she kept praying that God would keep her alive so that she could care for her children. When she told Toni this, all she could do was hold her in her arms and cry.
When Toni lost her 20-year-old daughter to cancer, she could not rejoice. As time has gone by, however, she has seen Christians who have also endured great suffering. Their courage has eased her suffering. In time, she has been able to praise God even in her pain because she bears his name.
