Only In Christ

Romans 1:8-17
“I guess I can never be good enough,” he cried.
“You’re right,” said the wise friend next to him. “You’ll never be good enough, and neither will I.”
“Then what hope is there?” he asked.
“Only in Jesus,” said his friend. “Only Jesus can make us acceptable to God.”
The apostle Paul testified how he once wanted to believe his efforts made him acceptable to God. “If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless” (Phil. 3:4b-6). Faith in Christ brought a new perspective, “I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. That I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ–the righteousness that comes from God.” (vv. 8b-9).
