God’s Life Plan

April 29th, 2011

Romans 14:1-18

The Lord God affirms, “What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do” (Isa. 46:11b).

Each of us has a special, God-given life plan. We have been given gifts and talents whereby we may honor God. He created our plan before we were born. “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Ps. 39:16b). Our special mission is to find out what God’s plan is for our lives and to fulfill that plan according to his timetable. As we mature, God will show us what we individually may or may not do and how we can honor him.

It is not our right to judge others’ actions by our standard. Each one of us is free to follow our own convictions. “It’s God we are answerable to–all the way from life to death and everything in between–not each other” (Rom. 14:8, TM). Instead, “Here’s what you need to be concerned about: that you don’t get in the way of someone else, making life more difficult than it already is” (Rom. 14:13, TM).
