But You…Stand Firm
February 22nd, 2011
1 Timothy 6:3-16
Fame, fortune, position, power . . . How easy it is to be distracted by the things that the world offers. For many, these distractions plunge them into destruction.
Tedsudao was a faithful Christian. He endured 19 years of persecution and imprisonment during the Marxist regime in Ethiopia. During those years, he was pressed to deny his faith, but he did not give up.
Years later, Tedsudao was released from prison. He was accepted into the US as a refugee. He was blessed with a job, a house, a car, and many amenities. It took him only two years to forget about Christ.
Fortunately, he came to his senses. One day he realized that godliness, faithfulness, and love–while hard to keep up–have greater value than any precious earthly possession. Now, he stands firm, like in the early years.
