What Is Our Credit Score?
February 16th, 2011
Romans 13
It is widely known that a person’s credit score is not determined simply by the size of his or her debt, but by his or her faithfulness in making payments. For example, someone with a good credit score has been faithful in making payments on time and beyond the minimum due, regardless of the amount of debt.
In God’s economy, we are big debtors. Even though some of us may not owe much in mortgage or credit card debt, we still owe a lot. God has forgiven our sins. He gives us access to his abundant life. He gives us access to eternity, an environment of freedom, a great opportunity to serve Christ–and all these come to us free, by faith. Jesus told his disciples “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matt. 10:8). Our spiritual credit score is not measured by how much we owe, but by how much we share God’s love and forgiveness with others.
