The Universal Sign
December 15th, 2010
Isaiah 7:1-17
Have you ever noticed the sign, “Don’t Touch, Wet Paint,” but you touched anyway? Have you ever subconsciously noted the sign, “No left turn,” but you turned left nonetheless? Have you ever missed a sign and experienced painful consequence? Ignoring signs can be hazardous to our health. The sign God gave is too vital to miss or ignore.
The Lord himself gave us a sign in the miraculous birth of Jesus. That God became man to live among us is not a sign to be ignored. Astonishingly, he chose to come to us as a helpless infant in a manger. If you and I were going to launch a worldwide crusade to save the planet, our plan would certainly not be based on a dependent baby. Yet, God chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
It is easy to miss the significance of the Christmas baby. Ponder God’s magnificent plan for all existence.
