Filled With Joy

Ezra 6:14-22
God’s people are never pawns. Though we may not always see it clearly, our lives are being guided by the hand of a loving Heavenly Father. He even uses powerful world leaders to fulfill his purposes! “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases” (Prov. 21:1).
What an incredibly joyful occasion the dedication of the Temple must have been for God’s people! The difficult days of exile were behind. The heart of the world’s most powerful king had been turned to their favor. Worship had been re-established. The Temple had been rebuilt. It was time to celebrate the goodness of God!
The world is full of negative news. If we have the eyes of faith, however, the world is also full of the goodness of God and the works of His mighty hand.
He continues to lead His people and to act on their behalf.
