A Reason, A Season, or A Lifetime
October 30th, 2010
Genesis 48:1-11
People come into our lives for: a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Two months after writing this, I will be attending my 10-year high school reunion. I will likely see people I graduated with that I never even knew; however, what I look forward to most is seeing those friends whom I’ve lost track with over time. Either through difference in life styles or the trajectories our lives have taken, I have not kept up with most from my high school. There will likely be people there that I could recite Jacob’s words from today’s scripture passage, “I never expected to see your face again.”
These relationships reflect a season of my life. Thanks to many of them, I am able to have a better understanding of who God is. I hope people will have the same thoughts about me (even those who do not have any affiliation with a church or God). I am convinced that I have a better understanding of God’s love because of the people in my life who have shown me that love through their actions and words. God, may those whom I come in contact know You better through my love for them.
