Inherit The Earth

Genesis 41:33-40
Pharaoh trusted Joseph because the Spirit of God was on him. Joseph handled adversity with leadership and grace. He came face to face with Pharaoh and dealt the truth to him straight up. He boldly gave practical help where needed and a plan of action God had ordained. So, Pharaoh gave him leadership. It is reminiscent of Jesus’ declaration in Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Meekness should be understood as an appropriate response. When we should be angry, we are angry. When we should be merciful, we are merciful. This is a Spirit-filled response. God enables us to do the right thing at the right time in the right way. And when we do that consistently, God increases our leadership.
Joseph moved from the pits of a dungeon to a place of honor and Pharaoh gave God the credit for this move. When we listen to God, obey God, and refuse to abandon God, He proves His faithfulness. God places His Spirit on us to enable His plan in us. And in the end, God uses us to bring hope to others.
