A Sure Way To Fall

The farther up you climb, the farther you have to fall. This is true of a prideful and haughty person.
I recently watched a movie where a man continued to lie and manipulate to get what he wanted, and then acted more and more prideful about his situation. When the truth finally came out, he fell hard. He lost everything, including his pride.
Now, many people accomplish many things in their life through honest, hard work. But if they have selfish pride like this man, they are no better off. According to Proverbs 16:18, prideful is not where you want to be. Pride and a haughty spirit will land you in a bad place. Then why do we end up being prideful? I believe it is because of insecurity.
If we feel confident in who we are in Christ, we would have no need for pride. We would be fulfilled in knowing we are doing God’s will, and that is a feeling that does not end in destruction. As you read today’s scripture, let it remind you where your attitude should be. Then, joyfully accept God’s challenge!
